SQUAREWAVE

SquareWave consists of 81 small reflective rotors which break incoming sunlight into numerous colored beams of light. The rotors are suspended from a moving frame which keeps the rotors constantly moving.

Squarewave was commissioned by the department of applied mathematics of University of Twente some time ago. Just before installation the department had to move and the work was orphaned. Recently, after a short exhibition and presentation at XPO, the DesignLab at the same university adopted the work – where it is now on permanent display.

SquareWave was conceived, designed and constructed by Paul Klotz and Edwin Dertien. Picture by Paul Clason.
